Anybody know this duo?

Lorelai and Rory have been my sisters on the screen for over a decade now and I still can't peel my eyes away.

Let me backup.

I'm a maker and a crafter, as you well know. Yet I do not so much enjoy the silence that often accompanies crocheting, sewing, or working on other projects. Although my mind is reeling with processes and ideas, moving at a pace I have trouble keeping up with, I hate a still room full of silence. As many of you probably understand, that is often what we have unless we turn on a little "background noise."


My background noise usually comes in the form of Netflix. But even before Netflix was the all-mighty Netflix I always had to have some background noise.

My favorite of these easy, mindless TV shows has always been Gilmore Girls. It was released when I was still a young girl and the progression of Lorelai and Rory's relationship has shaped me as a young woman.


A part of me hates to be influenced that heavily by a set full of false characters and scripts, a product of my generation's birth into the technological world, but another part of me is proud to have within-the-screen friends like Lorelai and Rory.


I learned many lessons from the two of them and the other characters in the series and by watching and re-watching those episodes as I entered adulthood, and often asked myself "WWTGD?" aka What Would the Gilmores Do?


Since my beloved friends went off the air, I've often wondered where they would have ended up and what their lives would be like in Stars Hollow beyond those seven seasons.

And earlier this year all Gilmore fanatics prayers were answered and we learned that our beloved Netflix is picking up the series for a reboot.


That's right - a full on, full force thrust back into Stars Hollow where all our friends still reside (sans Melissa McCarthy for now) without missing a beat.

The show will pick up eight years later - so there will be some catching up to do. What has the crew been up to since we last saw them? I'm so very anxiously awaiting to find out.

The series will have four 90 minute episodes, each representing a season (Fall, Winter, Spring, then Summer) and from what the cast has leaked about the scripts - again the brainchild of amazing original creator Amy Sherman Palladino - these episodes are everything we've been waiting for.

I definitely foresee myself putting down the crochet hooks for this one, though.

This will not, for me anyway, be mindless, half-paying-attention watching. This will be unblinking, eyes-glued-to-the-screen, ears perky, coffee table filled with snacks to sustain me for hours commitment to the screen.


I assure you, short of Lucille Ball coming back to life and giving us more episodes of I Love Lucy, this will be the moment of spectacular television that I will never forget.

To me, Gilmore Girls is the world in which I lived my perfect childhood - I never had a sad moment watching GG (except when my beloved Jess left Rory - anyone??) and this opportunity to come back into that world will not be taken for granted.

I also have ideas of a totally Gilmore watch party - some people dig the Oscars, I dig GG.


Complete with coffee, cheeseburgers, red vines, and mallowmars - all the classics.
