Cupcake Crochet Granny Square

I have part 3 of the Bake Shop Blanket Series hot out of the oven for you today!

Its the....... CUPCAKE SQUARE!




How darling! How easy! How delicious!


This little cutie doesn't take much time to whip up and is eternally yummy.

I can just imagine making a whole blanket out of these and giving it to your favorite cupcake enthusiast.

We all know one or two, don't we?

Well you know me. And I'm a cupcake enthusiast. So there!

Let's get going on this guy!






PATTERN:
Materials
-Worsted weight yarn in Beige, Pink, Lilac, and a tiny amount of cranberry (I used Lion Brand Vanna's Choice for all of these)
-Size H 5mm crochet hook
-Tapestry needle


Cupcake Bottom:
Begin with a Ch of 8, Hdc in 2nd st from hook and in each st across (6 Hdc), Ch 1, turn

Row 2: Hdc inc, Hdc in next 4 sts, Hdc inc, Ch 1, turn
Row 3: Hdc in each st across, Ch 1, turn
Row 4: Hdc inc, Hdc in next 6 sts, Hdc inc, Ch 1, turn
Row 5: Hdc in each st across, finish off, weave ends

Cupcake Top/Frosting:
Begin with a magic ring, Ch 2, 5 Dc inside magic ring, sl st to join, Ch 2
Round 2: Dc in first st, 2 Dc in each of next 4 sts (DO NOT work last st before the end of the round and DO NOT join), Ch 2, turn
Round 3: *Dc in first st, 2 Dc in next st*, repeat from * around 3 more times, Ch 1
Round 4: (Working along the FLAT side of your semi-circle) *4 Dc in first st, sl st into next st*, repeat from * 3 more times (Your last sl st should be in the edge of your semi-circle - see video for help positioning!), finish off, leaving a long tail to sew onto cupcake bottom

Sew onto the bottom!


Granny Square:
Round 1: With new color, sl st into top right corner of ice cream dome, all in the same st: CH 2, 2 DC, CH 3, 3 DC, CH 1, skip 3 sts, 3 DC in next st, CH 1, *3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC, CH 1, skip 3 sts, 3 DC in next st, CH 1*, repeat from * twice more forming a square, sl st to beginning CH 2



Rounds 2-3: Continue in this same manner – in corners 3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC, CH 1 and in all other CH spaces 3 DC, CH 1



Cherry:
With cranberry begin with a magic ring, CH 1, 8 SC, sl st to join, finish off, weave ends, sew onto top of cupcake
