Kitty Cat Crochet Granny Square

Meow! (That's hello in kitty)

Today I have a super cute little kitty cat granny square pattern for you!

This is the fifth day of the Craft Yarn Council's Anti-Boredom Month Granny Square Crochet-A-Long here on my blog & this kitty may be my favorite square yet!

Play with the colors on this one and create all different kinds of kitties - your favorite cat lover will love it!

PATTERN
Size: 6 in. by 6 in.

Materials:
-Worsted weight yarn, I used Caron Simply Soft in White, Soft Pink, Light Country Blue, Grey Heather and Charcoal Heather
-Size H 5mm crochet hook
-Tapestry needle

Kitty Head:
In White, begin with a magic ring, Ch 2
Round 1: 10 Dc inside ring, sl st to join, Ch 2 (10) Round 2: 2 Dc in each st around, sl st to join, Ch 2 (20) Round 3: Repeat Round 2 (40)
Row 4: *Dc in first st, 2 Dc in next st, repeat from * around, sl st to join, Ch 2 (60)


Row 5: Hdc in first 45 sts, Ch 6, beginning in 2nd Ch from hook Hdc, Dc, Trc, Dtrc, skip 4 sts, Sc in the 5th st, Sc in next 7 sts , Ch 6, beginning in 2nd Ch from hook Hdc, Dc, Trc, Dtrc, skip 4 sts, Sc in the 5th st, sl st to join, finish off, weave ends


Spot:
With Soft Pink, begin with a magic ring, Ch 2 Round 1: 10 Dc in ring, sl st to join, Ch 2 (10)
Round 2: 2 Dc in each st around, sl st to join, finish off leaving a long tail & sew onto head (20)


Face:
With Grey Heather and tapestry needle, embroider nose just on the edge of head round 1 using a running stitch.

With Charcoal Heather, use a running stitch to embroider smile and whiskers. Double strand the yarn and sew French knots for the eyes.

With Soft Pink, fill in the ears.


Granny Square:
Round 1: Join Light Country Blue yarn, *Ch 4, skip 4 sts, sl st into 5st from hook, repeat from * 11 more times, sl st to first Ch 4 space, Ch 2


Round 2: (2 Dc, Ch 3, 3 Dc) in first Ch space, 4 Dc in next Ch space, 4 Dc in next Ch space, *(3 Dc, Ch 3, 3 Dc) in next Ch space, 4 Dc in next Ch space, 4 Dc in next Ch space, repeat from * 2 more times
Round 3: (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC) in each corner Ch 3 space, and Dc in all other sts, sl sto join to starting Ch, Ch 2
Round 4: (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC) in each corner Ch 3 space, and Dc in all other sts, sl sto join to starting Ch, finish off and weave all ends
